Bird On The Hand began in a studio room at Bolder Ink, a gem of a tattoo shop in Boulder Colorado that has been open since 1995.
At first my plan was quite simple, just make enough customized gloves and mittens that my friends and clients would want in order to cover the cost of my season pass. As I started to put it together I saw that I could use what I’ve developed over time as a tattooer since 2002 and as an artist throughout my life to bring something special and unique to your gear.
Working with clients on a design that brings ideas to life for a tattoo is what I want to bring to another circle of my life; out there on the mountain living the best life. I’d like to bring that same energy and type of creativity to the slopes & the woods or wherever you are that requires some warm paws and add a little of a personal touch to yours. Doing this with my tattoo clients has been rewarding and fun for a long time, and doing the same with making custom artwork on mittens has proven to be just as fun and rewarding.

It usually takes several days, which includes time to design the artwork as well as the painting. I will be in contact with you and update you with photos of your work in progress.
$100-$200 depending on design and time involved. Shipping costs vary depending on location. However, I can be reached to pick them up in person at Bolder Ink tattoo shop in Boulder, CO, or we can meet at a ski area in Summit or Eagle County.
Yes, you can send me something of your own or something specific. There is a possibility that the artwork will need to be modified to be used in the mediums I use to paint with, but any extra drawing time is free of charge.
Yes, and if the ones on the site are not in your size, I can complete a pair of the same design for you within 2 days.
Definitely, and the cost will reflect in your favor. Even used ones from a previous season are something I can work with. I have found that synthetic materials often don’t perform as well as cowhide, but I am willing to test what we’re working with before dismissing it.
I have been using Kinco for almost all of them, but have also used Wells Lamont and Burton. Any leather or cowhide will do, so any specific brand you prefer that offers a model in that can be a possibility.
I do not usually carry them in stock, but I will order a pair for that individual and start painting them upon arrival from the seller.
Currently, Zelle is preferred due to its fee-free transactions for both buyers and sellers. Money orders are accepted, as well as good ol’ cash.
Yes, along with racking up style points.
